Sennheiser MMD 845-1

The Sennheiser MMD 845 is a dynamic microphone head with a supercardioid pattern for handheld wireless transmitters. Fit it in place of the existing head and the transmitter takes on the sound of the e 845 vocal microphone — full, with a lot of space and strong feedback rejection. The supercardioid pattern keeps the pickup tight around the voice and separates it from the rest of the stage, so the monitors can go louder. The head handles up to 154 dB SPL, enough for a singer shouting into it from a few centimetres. It is compatible with handheld transmitters from the ew G3, ew G4, D1, AVX, SpeechSeries Digital Wireless and 2000 series — so one head lets you match the sound across the transmitters you already own.

The head simply screws on in place of the existing one and the transmitter starts to sound like an e 845 vocal microphone. It is the cheapest way to change the character of a wireless set without buying new transmitters.

The supercardioid pattern stays consistent across the band, so the voice sits forward and stage spill drops away — which is where the high feedback rejection comes from. The 154 dB SPL headroom means the head will not overload even when sung into at close range.
