The Sennheiser ME 4 is a cardioid lavalier microphone for presentations and speech in noisy places. Unlike an omnidirectional lavalier it concentrates on the person wearing it, so room noise, air conditioning and voices from the next table stay out of the recording — and it tolerates a higher monitor level before it starts to ring. That is the whole reason a cardioid lavalier gets bought: for the situations where an omni fails. The locking 3.5 mm connector holds in evolution wireless bodypack transmitters and will not come loose when the speaker reaches for their belt.
Cardioid lavalier microphone
The ME 4 picks up directionally, so room noise and voices from the next table stay out of the recording. And because it also rejects the monitors, it tolerates a higher level before it starts to ring.
The locking 3.5 mm connector secures into an evolution wireless bodypack, so it does not work loose when the speaker reaches for their belt or moves the transmitter. On a lavalier that is the most common cause of a dropout mid-speech.
