The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 800mm f/5.6E FL ED VR lens is the ultimate super-telephoto lens for professionals demanding the longest NIKKOR prime focal length. Despite its extreme reach, the lens is surprisingly lightweight and well-balanced thanks to its magnesium alloy body and incorporation of two fluorite front elements. These fluorite elements reduce weight, shift the center of gravity rearward for stability, and minimize chromatic aberration while improving light transmission.

The optical design includes 20 elements in 13 groups, with additional two ED glass elements and Nano Crystal Coat to suppress flare and ghosting. A protective meniscus glass element and a 52mm rear slide-in filter are included for additional image control.

The lens features electromagnetic aperture control for precise, stable exposure during continuous shooting, even with teleconverters. Built-in Vibration Reduction (VR) offers up to 4 stops of stabilization, with Normal and Active modes plus automatic tripod detection for sharp images under various shooting conditions.

Focusing is handled by a Silent Wave Motor (SWM), supporting three modes: A/M, M/A, and M, ensuring fast, accurate, and quiet autofocus with manual override.

Each lens is supplied with a specially designed AF-S TC800-1.25E ED teleconverter, optimized for maximum optical performance and extending the lens to a 1000mm effective focal length. For safe transport, the lens and teleconverter come in a robust CT-801 hard case.
