Equipped with Nikon’s Silent Wave Motor (SWM), autofocus is fast, quiet, and precise—even on entry-level DSLRs without a built-in focus motor, such as the D40 or D60. The lens supports two focus modes: M/A (autofocus with manual priority) and M (manual focus), allowing photographers to switch seamlessly between autofocus and manual adjustments. The front element does not rotate during focusing, making it ideal for use with filter-mounted flashes or polarizers.
