A variable ND works like adjustable sunglasses for the camera. It dims an overly bright scene so photos and video retain highlight detail, while giving you more deliberate control over exposure.

A dial that works in the moment

The low-profile rotating control changes filter strength directly on the phone. Mechanical stops limit unwanted cross-polarization, so adjustment needs no threads, tools, or interruption to filming.

What a slower shutter can do

This official Moment example illustrates the principle of variable ND: with less light, a slower shutter can render moving water more smoothly. Moment does not specify the filter setting in these sample photos; they do not establish a precise stop value.
