The M-Audio BX8 D3 is a two-way active studio monitor designed for near-field listening. The woofer has an 8" (203 mm) diameter and a Kevlar cone with a high-temperature voice coil and a damped rubber surround; the tweeter is a 1.25" (32 mm) silk dome mounted in a waveguide that keeps the sound radiation stable to the sides. Both drivers are magnetically shielded.
Each driver has its own Class A/B amplifier—80 W for the bass and 70 W for the treble—and the crossover frequency is set at 2.0 kHz. The bass-reflex port is rear-firing and flared, so it minimizes audible airflow even at higher volume levels. The Acoustic Space control adjusts the bass response based on the monitor’s placement in the room; the LED on the front panel lights up fully when the listener is seated in the correct listening axis.
The rear panel features a balanced XLR input and a 6.3 mm (TRS) jack input, allowing the monitor to be connected to an audio interface, a mixing console, or DJ equipment. The monitor is sold individually.
