Hydra Articulating Car Mounting System

The Tilta Hydra Articulating Car Mounting System is a three-point suction mount for shots from a moving or parked vehicle. Three 152 mm (6″) suction cups with a NATO rail carry three heavy-duty articulating arms, and the system takes up to 20 kg. At its centre sits a 75 mm ball head with a bubble level, a low centre of gravity and ±15° levelling; it accepts both Arca and Manfrotto plates, so it holds a mirrorless body or a caged lightweight cinema camera.

The Hydra Articulating Car Mounting System puts the camera where a tripod cannot go — on the bonnet of a moving car, on a door, on a side window or right above the road surface. The kit is a construction set: what goes where is decided by the length and angle of the three arms, and one person can build it up or break it down in a few minutes.

Three 152 mm suction cups with a NATO rail

The system rests on three mechanical suction cups 152 mm (6″) across. Each carries a NATO rail, so besides the arm you can attach further accessories. The triangular layout keeps the rig steady even on a curved bonnet or on glass, and spreads the load so the system carries up to 20 kg.

Three 11″ articulating arms

Each arm is 279 mm (11″) long, made of high-strength aluminium alloy and stainless steel, and carries 7.9 kg on its own. The locking knob is reversible, so it turns to wherever there is room — next to bodywork that makes all the difference. The articulated build reaches camera angles a rigid mount cannot, including shots close to the road surface.

75 mm ball head with a bubble level

The head has a low centre of gravity and ±15° of levelling, so you can level the rig even on a sloping bonnet. The included adapter switches the bowl between 75 and 100 mm, so your own tripod head of the matching standard fits the base too. The bubble level sits in the head itself.
