A high-output bi-colour LED monolight kit that rivals a 6 kW HMI, offering variable colour temperature (2800-10,000 K), full professional control and rugged build in a modern LED form-factor — perfect for large-scale film, broadcast or studio productions.
A high-output bi-colour LED monolight kit that rivals a 6 kW HMI, offering variable colour temperature (2800-10,000 K), full professional control and rugged build in a modern LED form-factor — perfect for large-scale film, broadcast or studio productions.
The MG6K Kit1 from Godox is part of the KNOWLED line and delivers truly cinema-grade lighting performance in an LED fixture. Despite its output being comparable to a traditional 6 kW HMI, the fixture remains significantly lighter and more efficient. The light head weighs about 24.5 kg (54 lb) alone and around 28 kg (61 lb) with the yoke — enabling easier rigging than legacy heavy HMI units. It features a wide colour temperature range from 2800 K to 10,000 K, plus fine green/magenta control for colour matching across environments and other lights.
Photometric performance is outstanding: with the included MGR30 reflector, the unit reportedly delivers up to ~1,025,000 lux at 1 m (3.3′) at 5600 K. The power consumption is around 4,300 W AC input for 100-240 V worldwide compatibility. The fixture and its controller incorporate a robust cooling system and are rated IP65 (or similar standard) for outdoor or location use, giving reliable performance in a wide variety of conditions.
Control options are highly professional: onboard interface, DMX512 with RDM, wireless CRMX, Ethernet (Art-Net/sACN), Bluetooth/app control — enabling complex multi-fixture setups and remote adjustments. Dimming is smooth from 0 %-100 % with selectable dimming curves (linear, S-curve, exponential, logarithmic). The accessory ecosystem uses the G-Mount system, meaning you can attach large reflectors, Fresnels, beam focusing optics, projection attachments, lanterns, softboxes and more.

Why it’s good / Vibe & Use-Cases:
If you are lighting large film sets, virtual-production volumes, broadcast studios or big commercial rigs, this fixture gives you the throw, the precision, the flexibility and the reliability you need. It replaces bulky traditional HMIs with a modern LED that offers instant output (no warm-up), colour versatility, and less heat/power draw. The “big light” feel is present — capable of long throws, large source modifiers, and professional rigging — yet uses the benefits of LED technology to make your workflow more efficient.
Tips:
Make sure your power distribution can handle ~4.3 kW draw; also consider backup cooling/ventilation if used continuously at high output.
Use narrow reflectors (15°/30°) if you need long-throw output or want to match traditional Fresnel/HMI behaviour.
The small emitting surface size (for its output) means beam shaping and modifiers will be more efficient; if you need super-soft light for close interview work, pair with a large softbox or lantern attachment.
The G-Mount accessory system is powerful — leveraging large modifiers and motorised attachments will unlock full potential.
For outdoor or tricky conditions, the weather-rating (IP65) gives you more flexibility — still protect cables and ensure safe rigging.
Use the green/magenta shift and full control system to match other lights or ambient conditions precisely.
