The XF400mm F4.5 R LM OIS WR is a compact and lightweight fixed-focal-length super-telephoto lens that offers excellent portability. It features a fixed focal length of 400 mm (equivalent to 609 mm in 35 mm format) and a maximum aperture of F4.5, delivering the highest optical performance in the XF lens lineup.

The FUJINON XF400mmF4.5 R LM OIS WR lens is part of the “X Series” of mirrorless cameras, which combine exceptional image quality—achieved through proprietary color reproduction technology—with a compact and lightweight design.

Despite its long focal length, the lens weighs only approximately 1,245 g*1, making it ideal for capturing fast-moving subjects at a distance, including birds, motorsports, and airplanes. In addition, improved vibration detection accuracy and an optimized stabilization mechanism provide up to 5.5 degrees*2 of image stabilization, ensuring stable handheld shooting even at super-telephoto focal lengths and in situations requiring short exposure times. 

The “XF400mmF4.5 R LM OIS WR” lens further extends its focal length when used with a teleconverter. With the “FUJINON Teleconverter XF1.4X TC WR,” the lens provides a focal length of 560 mm (equivalent to 853 mm in 35 mm format), and with the “FUJINON Teleconverter XF2X TC WR,” it provides a focal length of 800 mm (equivalent to 1,219 mm in 35 mm format). 

With the addition of the “XF400mmF4.5 R LM OIS WR” lens to the lineup, the “XF Lens” series now features a complete range of large-aperture, fixed-focal-length super-telephoto lenses, covering focal lengths equivalent to approximately 300 mm to 762 mm in 35 mm format. The “FUJINON XF1.4X TC WR Teleconverter” allows for shooting with a maximum focal length equivalent to 560 mm (35 mm equivalent: 853 mm), while the “FUJINON XF2X TC WR Teleconverter” allows for shooting with a maximum focal length equivalent to 800 mm (35mm format equivalent: 1,219 mm).

It features a sophisticated lens configuration with 21 elements in 14 groups, which 
includes 2 Super ED elements and 4 ED elements.

This design effectively minimizes chromatic aberration—a common issue with super-telephoto lenses—and delivers exceptional resolution. It captures even distant subjects with high-resolution detail, enabling the powerful visual impact typical of super-telephoto photography.

Exceptional mobility and resolving power in a compact and lightweight design

Thanks to the 1.5x crop factor of the APS-C format, this lens offers a field of view equivalent to 609 mm on a full-frame camera, all in a compact body weighing approximately 1,245 g. With its lightweight construction and excellent portability, it is ideal for long photo sessions and travel. 

Forward weight bias is a common issue with super-telephoto lenses, but the XF400mmF4.5 R LM OIS WR features an optimized optical design that shifts the center of gravity closer to the camera body. This improves handling and helps reduce fatigue during extended handheld shooting.

The lens body has 20 sealed points, ensuring dust and weather resistance and reliable operation even at temperatures as low as -10 °C. In addition, the front element is fluorine-coated, giving it water-repellent and smudge-resistant properties. You can use this lens with confidence even during extended shooting in inclement weather.

Powerful 5.5-stop Image Stabilization

Improved shake detection accuracy and an optimized stabilization mechanism ensure image stabilization of up to 5.5 stops. This enables stable handheld shooting even at super-telephoto focal lengths, where camera shake is particularly noticeable.

Fast, Quiet, and Highly Accurate Autofocus with Excellent Control

Thanks to the use of an internal focusing system, the lens’s focusing group is smaller and lighter. Furthermore, by driving the focusing group with a high-speed linear motor, we have achieved fast and quiet autofocus. Even during demanding super-telephoto shooting, this lens enables fast and highly accurate autofocus, helping photographers confidently capture decisive moments.

The lens is equipped with a focus preset function that allows you to instantly shift the focus to a position preset using the “SET” button. Since there is no need to refocus on the intended subject, you can focus immediately. 

The “Focus Control Button” located on the front of the lens barrel provides instant access to the function selected via the focus mode switch (AF-L / PRESET / AF), enabling smooth and efficient autofocus operation.

The lens is equipped with a focus limiter*3 function, which restricts the focus range, shortens the time required to achieve focus when photographing subjects at distances greater than 5 meters, and enables faster autofocus performance.
